Bonjour 2017-2018 School Year!

Wow, the new school year is finally here! Madame Lockwood is looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday! She stayed busy this summer with a trip to Alabama to visit family and worked 7 weeks as a day camp counselor at Camp Paw Paw with the Chittenden Humane Society. Best summer job ever and she met so many cool kids and animals! Also her family has two new critter members, a hedgehog named Coco and her mom adopted a pit/dalmatian mix named Daisy :) She can't wait to hear about everyone's summer adventures. Parents & Guardians feel free to share as well!

The EMS Bonjour Bulletin blog will be updated throughout the school year to share everything we will be doing and learning in French, so make sure to subscribe at the bottom of the page to receive updates on the latest news.

Madame Lockwood's new e-mail address & the best way to reach her is: hlockwood@ewsd.org
Please let her know if your contact e-mail has changed from last year.

A reminder to students & families that personal handheld devices, such as cellular phones, iPods, iPads, etc. are not allowed out in French class. If you feel more comfortable that your student has a phone with them in the classroom, they can have me keep their phone turned off in a secure place during class and pick it up from me at the end of class. Otherwise if students bring these devices to school, they must be turned off and in lockers during French class time. If devices are found out during class time, these devices will be removed and returned to parents/guardians. If parents/guardians need to contact students during class, please call the front office. Your support around this is very much appreciated!

School Chromebooks should only be brought to class on days students are asked to bring them for French learning only and otherwise these devices must stay in homerooms during class time.

Food also needs to stay out of the French classroom with the exception of special event days in class, but students are allowed to bring a water bottle as long as it is being used responsibly.

*** Here is what students will need for French Class this year:

6th Grade French: A folder with pockets for class notes & pencils
7th & 8th Grade French: 1 large three ring binder for class notes & pencils

Optional Items to donate to French (Merci Mes Amis!): Lots of Kleenex & Pencils!

Upcoming Events: EMS Ice Cream Social, Monday, August 28th, 5-6 pm
EMS Open House, Thursday, October 5th, 6-7 pm
